After blitzing the bottom end of the country - Hobart, Perth, Fremantle, Adelaide, Geelong and Melbourne - Wollongong's finest export TUMBLEWEED take a few weeks off and do it all again.

Most recently it was to plug their retrospective double cd set The Waterfront Years, this time it's to promote what's almost their favourite thing in the world, beer.

Tumbleweed return to Victoria this weekend for the first time this year! The band kicks off the weekend with their great mates The Meanies at the Corner Hotel in Richmond. They then head down the Princes Highway on Saturday night for a show at the Barwon Club with the highly rated River Of Snakes (a new band for Raul Sanchez of Magic Dirt). They return to Melbourne on Sunday to play at the annual Community Cup at Elsternwick Park alongside legends You Am I. Tumbleweed will be performing during the half-time break on the charity match which starts at 2pm. The band will be performing a Nick Cave song as part of their set (along with all other bands on the day). After throwing a few ideas about, the band settled a song from Cave's Let Love In album, but which song?...Come along and find out!

The original lineup of Tumbleweed last night returned to Hobart for the first time in 16 years, playing to a near-sell out crowd at The Brisbane Hotel. The band was warmly embraced on their return, with guitarist Lenny Curley even stating that it was one of the best responses they've had since being back together.

The tour starts in Tassie...

The original lineup of Tumbleweed return to Tasmania this weekend for the first time in 16 years. The band who are playing at the Brisbane Hotel on Saturday night (4th June), last played in Hobart in 1995 with Spiderbait at the Uni Bar.

New South Wales Tour December/January

Tumbleweed are doing a small run of shows in late December and early Jan around NSW including their first Sydney headline show since the 2009 reformation. The band has been busy writing some new songs and trying to remember even older songs. The band hopes perform at least two new songs at the upcoming shows and also some older songs from the first LP that they haven't played in a long long time!!

Old classic to feature on Hifi Bar live CD

The Tumbleweed classic Rainbow Waterwillow from the 1992 EP Weedseed is featured on the upcoming Hifi Bar live CD "Hifi Live Highlights", which hits stores on Friday 28 May. This version of the song was recorded at the Hifi Bar in Melbourne on the 10th December 2009.

Also featured on the CD is The Meanies - Ton Of Bricks recorded on the same night.

Put the shovels away, Tumbleweed aren't going back to ground anytime soon!

That's right Tumbleweed are permanently "Back from the grave", the weed have rediscovered that magic from the early nineties and there's new material on the way!

But in the mean time, Aztec Music is reissuing the old Waterfront era back catalogue, in the form of a double cd retrospective, due out in late 2010.

Lost Weekend Festival has been cancelled!!

The festival released the following statement on their website:

"After moving from Ivory's Rock to the Brisbane River Stage, The Lost Weekend has had insufficient time to achieve critical mass and we have been left with no choice but to cancel the event.

As local promoters it was our dream to run an event similar to other regional events like Meredith in Victoria and to bring such an event to SE QLD.

This is one of the saddest and most difficult decisions we have ever had to make."

A full refund will be available to all those who bought tickets from next week.

Tumbleweed are trying to organise a venue for Sunday night in Brisbane instead, keep an eye on the shows page for more details >
